For centuries potatoes have been among the most important foods in the local diet. La Chabranda grows this tuber according to the natural growing methods and it uses this ingredient in some traditional dishes, such as potato dumplings and cagliette. Our business is member of the association Associazione dei Produttori della Patata di Montagna, whose aim is to enhance potato growing in mountain areas (from 500 meters above sea level), in particular of ancient fine sorts, using sustainable growing methods while forbidding the use of chemical additives. In the last decades said cultivation was carried out in smaller and smaller quantity, therefore its rehabilitation is meaningful both as employment opportunity in mountain areas and as protection of the historical, cultural and gastronomic heritage.
