Welcome to La Chabranda, your agriturismo in Pomaretto, at the foot of Punta Tre Valli, at the gateway to Val Germanasca in the province of Turin, Piedmont.

Here we are, the Ribet family

Here we speak to you in an informal, familiar way, because you are not a customer but a guest in our home, part of a story that spans three generations.

Ruben and Lara Ribet, children of Roberto and Lorena, welcome you into this shared story, born from a choice to put the mountains before convenience, weaving together daily hard work, deep respect for the land, and an idea of genuine hospitality made of real gestures, calloused hands, and time that moves slowly.

Our grandparents’ roots: the seed of humility and respect

Our grandparents, Margherita and Gustavo, had neither tractors nor labels: they cared for a few cows for their own needs, vineyards for loose wine kept in demijohns, a small vegetable garden, and fruit trees. Farming was life, not a profession. They taught us to listen to the mountain — its cycles, its silences, its gifts — without ever pretending to dominate it. When you walk through our meadows or taste our dishes, you are touching land that has been cared for over decades. Without that seed of humility, we, the third generation, would not have the trees that shade us today.

years of experience

Everything changed in 1987

Our father Roberto, a mechanical worker at FIAT with a steady salary and a secure pension ahead of him, felt his soul tied to the peaks, the hay, and the silence of the vineyards.

He left Turin — a leap into the unknown that his colleagues called madness — and returned with our grandparents’ two cows, the land, and the existing vineyards.

Back then, agriturismo did not yet exist as a formal model: it was pure hospitality. He opened the family kitchen for just 15 guests, blending private home and farm life. Our mother Lorena was at the stove with handed-down recipes, simple dishes prepared with the ingredients of our own kitchen.

Those who arrived did not find a service; they found a presence. That is how our way of welcoming began: making you feel at home from the very first smile.

The evolution: when agriturismo was not yet a formula

Over the years, regulations required a separation between home and business. It was not a defeat, but a natural evolution.

We grew to include dining rooms for 60 guests, a professional kitchen, 7 welcoming rooms overlooking the valley, a panoramic terrace, and a safe garden for children.

We kept the warmth of home within a carefully tended structure. Open all year round by reservation, we offer half board, full board, and family rooms. The philosophy has remained unchanged: genuine hospitality, never servile.

Ruben: the soul of production

With an agricultural background, I take care of the vineyards, the barn, and everything we produce. Our vineyards are heroic: steep terraces wrested from the rock, dry-stone walls, and no tractors. Every bunch of Avanà, Avarengo, and Neretto is harvested by hand and carried on our shoulders along steep paths.
It is immense effort, but it is the only way to produce Ramìe DOC — a full-bodied, mineral, spicy wine that holds the taste of our mountain.

Livestock farming is my world: cows graze freely. In summer they go to alpine pastures among mountain herbs and pure air; in winter they are fed our hay and local feed. I manage every stage — from ethical slaughter to the transformation into cheeses, dairy products, and cured meats.

Circular economy: nothing is wasted, everything gives value back to our land.

Lara: the art of hospitality

With a degree in local economics, I care for hospitality as a true calling. Welcoming you means creating peaceful moments: from the first good-morning coffee to dinner under the stars.

I organise the rooms, the dining room, and all the details that make you feel looked after. I also cultivate relationships with local realities: guided visits to the vineyards, educational farm activities, woodland walks, and Waldensian traditions.

For me, La Chabranda is home: I would not want to be anywhere else.

The kitchen: from the garden to the plate, seasonal and authentic

Our mother taught all of us that every ingredient tells a story. Here you will find souppo barbetto, rustic crêpes, tajarin with veal ragù, oven-roasted pork loin, Dahü cheeses, and dishes from Waldensian tradition.

The menus change with the seasons: chestnuts and pumpkin in autumn, polenta and winter soups, vegetables from the garden in spring, salads and fresh cheeses in summer. Homemade desserts. Generous portions. Authentic flavors.

Here you do not simply eat a meal: you are nourished by relationship, commitment, and care.

The experience waiting for you

For families:

a safe space, a garden, and an educational farm where children can learn about mountain livestock farming, the cycles of the vegetable garden, and how cheese is born.

For food and wine lovers:

guided tastings of Ramìe and our homemade specialities, along routes that bring together flavor and nature.

Ideal location:

close to Prali, trekking paths, Waldensian villages, and the Forte di Fenestrelle. A slow weekend, relaxation, and pure air in a place where fireflies still dance.

Our future: awareness and roots

From a bold bet in 1987 to a well-established reality, we look ahead with the same passion. We invest in experiential learning: understanding how milk is transformed, how a vegetable garden is cultivated, how chestnuts are gathered, how to ski in Prali, and how to breathe in the truth of the mountains.

We want you to take home not only a gastronomic memory, but also a deeper awareness of what it means to live in the mountains, respect natural rhythms, and understand the journey from garden to plate.

La Chabranda is not just any agriturismo.

It is the choice of a family that preferred the mountains to security.
It is a wine that tastes of rock and hard work.
It is a table where every ingredient has a face and an origin.
It is the silence that restores the soul, the scent of cheese and freshly milked milk.

If you are looking for an authentic experience in Piedmont — for yourself, for your children, for a food-and-wine weekend, or for an escape from the city — come and visit us.

We will be waiting for you in Pomaretto, with a smile, a glass of Ramìe ready, and the door always open.
